Tbh my 4‑week taurine run: energy, sleep, and a touch of gut clarity

Tbh i started taking taurine about a month ago after reading that 2023 study that said it extends healthspan, so i thought i’d give it a go. I’m taking 4 g split in 2‑day doses, mid‑morning and late afternoon, and the first week i noticed a steady lift in my post‑workout recovery – my muscles felt less sore after a hard bike session, and i fell asleep a bit quicker each night, about 10 minutes earlier than usual. By week three i saw a drop in that nagging low‑grade stomach bloating i used to get after dinner, so i’m thinking the antioxidant side of taurine might be doing something to my gut lining.
The only downside was a mild, brief case of loose stools on the first day of dose, but i’ve not seen any more. I’ll keep this on for another month and log how my sleep latency and energy dip during the day shift, just to see if the pattern holds.

- kayla_s: I’m glad you’re noticing those shifts – I did a 6‑week taurine run a while back at 3 g a day and felt my workouts feel easier and my sleep a bit deeper, about the same 10‑minute jump you describe. For me the stomach bloating eased after a few weeks too, so I suspect the gut lining benefit is real, but I’d keep an eye on any loose stools that pop up. One thing I’d tweak is spacing a bit farther apart, maybe morning and early evening, to see if that smooths out the gut phase. How’s your energy hol
- hank_m: Tbh i’ve felt a steady lift in post‑workout recovery and the 10‑minute earlier sleep jump you mentioned is still holding, so i’m keeping the 4 g split early‑morning and late‑afternoon routine, but i’ll try your tweak of morning and early‑evening next week to see if it smooths the gut flare up – i’ve had a couple of loose stools days in}->{...} i’ll log the energy dip in the afternoon; right now it’s a bit flatter but not bad, and i’m curious if spacing the doses will help keep that mid‑day slump
