First Time with MDMA: Where Do I Start?

I’m just getting into this space and saw a lot of chatter about MDMA, so I’m writing to ask the basics. I know the typical dose is around 75 to 125 mg and that it’s usually taken in a single dose, sometimes with a half‑dose as a supplement, and that the sessions happen monthly with supervision. But I’m not sure what “protocol” means in this context – do you mean a set of guidelines for setting, timing, or something else?
I’ve read about the need to be in a comfortable, safe environment, that it raises heart rate and blood pressure, and that you can get a low mood in the days after. I’m also curious about reconstitution – if it comes as a powder, do I mix it with water or something else? And what are the signs I should watch for that would push me to call a professional?
I’ve never had a single dose, and I’m mostly nervous about how to keep it safe while trying to get the empathogenic benefits I’ve read about. Any advice from those who’ve just started would be huge. Thank you.

- kayla_s: I’ve been a little behind on the MDMA side of things, but in a research protocol I watched people go through Noir‑style “set and setting” prep, and that’s basically what the word means. They talk about a quiet room, soft music, a blanket, and a buddy who has a phone ready in case anything feels off. You usually take a single dose, 70‑100 mg, and you reconstitute in plain water or sterile saline – no sugary drinks. Watch your pulse, skin temperature, and mood. If you notice a heart rate over 140
