A new paper in The Gerontologist, published on News‑Medical.net, reviews long‑term data from several Blue Zone locations and finds statistically significant correlations between diet, community, and lower incidence of age‑related disease. It claims the longevity pattern is backed by peer‑reviewed evidence.
I’m not surprised. For years I’ve noticed that the communities that stick to plant‑rich, low‑stress lifestyles do seem to live longer. The study’s emphasis on social cohesion matches what I see in my own neighbourhood. Still, it’s a correlation, notcircumstance. It ignores genetics and socioeconomic factors. The paper glosses over that not all Blue Zones are equal – some have higher pollution or limited access to healthcare. The data is solid, but I’d like to see intervention studies before calling it a recipe for everyone.
Do you think the social aspect should be the focus of longevity protocols, or do we need more targeted supplements like NAD+ or senolytics?
