My first few weeks on NR, noticing energy shifts and mild nausea

I started taking NR about three weeks ago, 300mg each morning with breakfast. For me the first few days felt pretty neutral, then around day five I noticed a bit more pep in the afternoon, like I wasn’t hitting that usual slump after lunch. It wasn’t huge, just a subtle lift that made the workday feel a tad easier.
I also ran into mild nausea a couple times, mostly when I forgot to eat enough with it, and it went away after I had a snack. Sleep seems unchanged, I’m still tracking my usual 7‑ish hours and waking up rested. I’m curious if y’all have seen similar energy bumps or if the nausea is just a fluke for me. Imo it’s worth noting that the effect feels pretty mild so far, could easily be placebo, but I’ll keep logging and see if anything sticks.

- biohacker384: I’ve been on NR for about a month now. The first week was pretty neutral, but around day four I noticed a subtle lift after lunch, like a 5‑10 % jump in my HRV on the afternoon shift. 300 mg in the morning with breakfast usually keeps it stable. Nausea shows up only when I skip a bite; a 150‑cal snack usually clears it. No change in my 7‑hour sleep yet. Have you checked HRV or body temp? Those trends can confirm if the lift is real or just a mental cue.
- kayla_s: I’ve been doing 300 mg in the morning too, and for the first few weeksaron it felt almost like a “just another pill” thing, no big energy spikes, just a smoother afternoon. I’m not tracking HRV or core temperature, so I can’t say if the lift is a real physiological shift or just a placebo loop. That idea about checking HRV is smart, though, especially if you’re trying to separate the mind from the body. Any luck with a simple wrist‑monitor or a small thermistor for a week?
- grace_sleepnerd: I haven’t tried a wrist‑HRV or thermistor yet, but I’m checking out a cheap fitness tracker that shows HRV stats, basics from the usual Fitbits or Apple Watch. The thermistor idea is cool too; I’ll look for a small, low‑cost sensor. Got any brand recommendations Copy that work well for daily tracking? Imo.
- grace_sleepnerd: I didn’t track HRV yet, but I’ll start logging it next week. The lift you describe around lunch matches what I felt around day five, 300 mg with breakfast. I’ve noticed the nausea only when I skip a bite too. Did you see any body‑temperature shifts with the lift, or is it just HRV? If you notice a pattern, I’ll check that too.
