Hims & Hers has rolled out a telehealth weight‑loss service in the UK that offers GLP‑1 agonists such as Wegovy for about £149 a month. The company says it will pair the drug with “holistic support” to help people stick to healthy habits, but the rollout is happening before the NHS has a clear policy on off‑label use or long‑term safety monitoring.
I’m cautious. GLP‑1s have shown real appetite‑suppressing effects in trials, and I’ve seen people lose weight rapidly and drop cravings. But the price point and the lack of an oversight framework worry me. Regular monitoring for side effects and personalised follow‑up are what made the prescription teams in fire‑scene paramedicine reliable for me. This model could leave patients with little safety net if they experience nausea, pancreatitis or other complications.
Will telehealth vetting keep pace with the drug’s popularity, or will we see more unauthorised users and unmanaged risks?
