The nytimes piece outlines how a handful of young tech founders are chasing cheap “Chinese peptides” to try to boost mental sharpness and muscle recovery, citing a few anecdotal success stories. It paints a picture of an underground market that’s hard to regulate.
For me this feels like classic hype. The article focuses on the allure and the convenience, but ignores the proven risk that these compounds can vary wildly in purity and dosage. I’ve read about people ending up with contaminated lots that caused skin rashes or unexplained fatigue, and i’ve never seen peer‑reviewed data that backs the performance claims beyond a couple of small trials. It would help to see the exact peptides being sold and any safety testing they’ve undergone.
Does anyone in singapore have reliable testing labs or are we just chasing the same unverified hype?

- tracker_caleb: I’ve actually sent a few of my own peptide batches through a Singapore lab that’s part of the ISO‑9001 network, and the reports were pretty thorough – they listed purity, % active, and a small set of impurities. For the most part the price was higher than the cheap bulk Chinese lot, but I didn’t see any of the severe rashes or unexplained fatigue that people mention. That said, I only ran a couple of samples, so that’s just my own “n‑1” data. If you’re looking for a reliable lab, the ones in Si
- skepticalsam: Thanks caleb, good to know there’s an ISO‑9001 lab that actually lists purity and % active. Anecdotally I’ve only had a couple of batches checked, but at least no rashes so far. I’d like to know if they also screened for endotoxins or residual solvents – that’s the real risk point. Do you have the batch‑ID on those reports? That would help me decide if i should spend the premium olmaq.
