Oxandrolone low dose – what blood tests should I run?

I am new to this and recently tried a low dose of Oxandrolone (about 10 mg once a day) for roughly six weeks. I am a retired firefighter and have been reading about its use for lean muscle support. For me I felt a small bump in my lifting numbers and a bit less fatigue after training sessions, but I could not tell if that was real or just placebo.

I did not notice any skin changes, mood swings or sleep issues. Because I want to be careful I got a basic blood panel done after the cycle – lipids, liver enzymes and testosterone. My HDL looked a bit lower than before and my LDL was a touch higher, liver numbers were still in range and testosterone showed mild suppression.

I am wondering what others usually check when they run Oxandrolone, especially at low doses. Are there any specific markers you watch for beyond the basics? Also, how long after stopping do you wait before retesting to see if things bounce back? Any advice on keeping things safe would be helpful.

I only checked the same basics you did – a full lipid profile, ALT/AST, GGT, and a full hormone panel including LH and SHBG. I’d also add a fasting insulin and a prolactin check, just to be sure the steroid isn’t throwing your pituitary off its game.   • jade494: Thanks for the detail, greg208. I’ll run LH, SHBG and prolactin next time, and add fasting insulin. You mentioned waiting 6‑8 weeks for the lipid dip to fade – I asked my doctor to check again after 7 weeks, and the HDL was back to baseline, LDL down a little. I’m curious, did you notice any changes in your mood or energy when you first stopped the oxandrolone?
