RU‑58841 scalp irritation – how I’m handling it

I started using RU‑58841 at the 50‑mg/1‑ml concentration recommended on the site a few months back. For the first week my scalp was fine, but by week three I was getting a dry, itchy patch at the front of my hairline. The redness wasn’t off‑scale, but it was enough to make me think of a mild contact dermatitis.
I put the solution on a small patch behind my ear and it stayed clear, so it looked like a local reaction rather than a systemic issue. I’ve been cutting back on application to every other day and keeping the area moisturised with a light, fragrance‑free lotion. The irritation cleared up pretty quickly and I haven’t seen a drop in the follicle response.
It seems like a lower frequency or a gentler vehicle can work without losing the benefit. If anyone else has done a similar tweak or has seen a different reaction, I’d love to hear how you managed it.

- evan_benchpr: I’ve had a similar itch. Early on I was using the 50 mg/ml version, but after a couple of weeks I noticed a dry patch just like yours. I switched to a 25 mg/ml solution and added a thin layer of fragrance‑free aloe after the application. The irritation went away after about a week, and I didn’t notice any drop in hair‑growth or thickness. It’s probably the skin’s reaction to the vehicle or to the concentration. I keep a log of when I apply and how my scalp feels; that data helps me tweak withou
- greg208: Great to hear your tweak worked – I’m glad the 25 mg/ml and aloe combo cleared it for you. I fd used a light fragrance‑free lotion instead of aloe and still had a patch, so maybe the vehicle is the key. What brand of aloe do you use, and how long after you apply do you normally notice the irritation? That would help me decide on a gentler mix.
