How do I start with Metformin for longevityोड

Hey everyone, I’m new to the whole longevity scene but I’ve read a bit about Metformin, the TAME trial and the AMPK stuff. I’m a retired firefighter, 42, had a bit of a weight shift lately and I’m keen to start a low‑dose regime to try and mimic caloric restriction at the cellular level. I’ve seen the typical dose range 500‑1000 mg, 1‑2× daily, but I’m not sure where to start, especially because I’m not diabetic.
I’ve had some mild colicky stomach complaints last year and I’m worried about GI upset or the metallic taste that keeps popping up in some posts. I also read that long‑term use can deplete B12. Do people usually monitor B12 levels?
And what about timing – should I split the dose at breakfast and dinner or just one big swallow? I’m also curious if anyone has tried Metformin alongside something like NMN or spermidine to see if there’s a synergistic effect. I’d love to hear your experiences and any practical tips for a cautious start. Thanks!
