Oxandrolone: Unexpected HDL Drop and Liver Enzyme Rise in My Routine

Posted by sleep_coastal in Safety & Side Effects - 1 points, 0 comments.

I started 20 mg daily of oxandrolone about 6 weeks ago, aiming for lean muscle gain. My cholesterol panel after the first month showed a drop in HDL from 58 to 45 mg/dL. The next check, a week later, revealed ALT at 42 U/L and AST at 38 U/L, just above the upper limit of normal.

I’m not sure if that’s a normal fluctuation or a sign I need to step back. I’ve kept my diet low in refined carbs, but I haven’t added a statin or any other lipid‑lowering agent. I’m wondering if anyone else has seen a similar pattern or if there’s a better monitoring schedule.

Do you check liver enzymes a week apart or every two weeks? Is there a dose adjustment that mitigates the HDL drop without losing the strength gains? I’d appreciate any anecdotal guidance or personal experiences.
