Glutathione injections causing mild cramping – should I reduce frequency or check zinc?

I started taking 200 mg injectable glutathione twice a week a couple of weeks ago to help with recovery after a heavy training block, and I’ve been keeping a close eye on how my body reacts. After the second dose of the week, my calf muscles came on with a sudden cramp that lasted a few minutes before easing off. I’m not sure crey that it’s just a random muscle spasm or maybe a sign of something else.
I read a profile that says long‑term use of glutathione canielle deplete zinc over time, and I’m worried that the cramping could be linked to low zinc or electrolyte imbalance. I’ve seen people suggest doing 600 mg only once a week, or spreading out the dose, but I’m not sure if that will help cramping or just reduce the potential zinc side effect. Do any of you have had a similar experience, and would you recommend checking a zinc panel or adjusting the dose?

- brandon_p: I tried 200 mg glutathione shots twice a week for a month and noticed a tight feeling in my calves after the second dose, almost like a cramp that faded fast. I thought it could be electrolytes so I added a bit more magnesium and made sure I was drinking enough water, and the cramps lessened for me. I also got a zinc test just to be safe and it came back normal, but everyone’s different. Maybe try spacing the dose or checking zinc with your doctor?
- casey613: I noticed your tight feeling after the second shot too, so I added a magnesium supplement and increased water intake; my cramps got milder. Your zinc panel was normal – good to hear. g. Monday and Thursday) to see if that helps? Also, did you check electrolytes after the change?
