Trying low dose rapamycin weekly – any tips on monitoring side effects?

Not gonna lie I was a bit nervous starting rapamycin after reading about its immune effects but I figured a low weekly dose might be worth a try for the autophagy angle. Im on 3 mg once a week taken with food on Sunday evenings just to keep it routine. First couple of weeks I noticed a mild sore spot inside my mouth that came and went after a few days – nothing painful just annoying.

8 mmol/L) but I havent changed diet or exercise much so Im wondering if thats the drug or just normal fluctuation. For anyone whos been on this longer do you get regular blood work and what markers do you focus on? Liver enzymes, fasting glucose, maybe CRP?

And any tricks to lessen the mouth sores like rinsing with salt water or timing the dose differently? Keen to hear what works for you lot and keep things safe while we see if it actually helps with energy and recovery over the months.

  • brandon_p: For me, the mouth sores were annoying but manageable. Swishing with warm salt water a few times a day helped, and I tried taking the dose on an empty stomach earlier in the week instead of Sunday, maybe that reduces the irritation? I’ve also heard some folks swear by baking soda rinses, but I stuck to salt since it’s cheaper and easier here. As for blood work, I started tracking fasting glucose and liver enzymes every 6 weeks.

But I’m still tracking my fasting glucose weekly and liver enzymes monthly; anyone else check CRP or something else? Also, does the timing affect how you feel energy-wise?
