Thoughts on the latest tirzepatide dual agonist data

I just read a recent news piece about tirzepatide’s dual GIP/GLP-1 action and its weight loss numbers. 5% body loss seen in trials and mentioned the once weekly dosing schedule. Anecdotally, I’ve tried a low dose of the compounded version for a few weeks and noticed a steady drop in appetite without the harsh nausea I got from semaglutide.

The energy felt more stable, which lines up with the GIP‑driven fat oxidation claim. Still, the GI side effects are real – I had a couple of days of loose stools that cleared after cutting the dose back. The hype around muscle preservation sounds promising but I haven’t seen any hard data on that yet in humans.

What do others think about balancing the potency with the tolerability curve? Would you push the titration slower to avoid the gut issues?

For me, the first week on a very low dose, about a quarter of the usual prescription amount, helped cut cravings without the big nausea of semaglutide. The stools did flare on days 4 and 5, so I cut back for a week and then nudged it up again. 75 mg a week, keeps the gut calmer. I’ve not seen muscle loss in my body, but I do keep a light resistance routine to support muscle. It seems like keeping the dose gentle during the first 3 weeks, then slid

I start at 5 mg once a week, then bump to 10 mg after a few weeks if the stomach still swells or you feel the greasy gut churn. For me it’s all about the “slow march” – jump too fast and the nausea pulls you back, but a gentle climb keeps the appetite low and the energy steady. I’ve seen patients who keep the dose at 5 mg for months and still see a 2–3 % drop in weight, so patience can pa
