Just starting quercetin – how much and when should I take it?

Hey folks I’m totally new to this and I’ve been reading about quercetin as part of a senolytic stack but I’m not sure where to begin, like what dose do most people start with and should I take it every day or just pulse it a couple times a week, I saw the typical range is 500‑1000 mg per day but I’m wondering if that’s for daily use or if the pulsed protocol uses a higher amount for a few days then off, also do I need to pair it with something like dasatinib right away or can I try quercetin alone first to see how I feel, I’m a bit nervous about GI upset because I’ve heard high doses can cause that, any tips on timing with meals or splitting the dose would be really helpful, thanks for any beginner advice you can share.

  • sleep_coastal: I’ve been taking quercetin on my own stack for a few months now. I started with 250 mg twice a day with dinner and lunch, split the dose so my gut didn’t feel it. After a week or two it felt fine, no cramping or upset. When I increased to 500 mg twice a day I got mild nausea, so I went back down. I keep it daily, not pulsed, because it’s easier to stay consistent. price?
  • coastal_chemist: Thanks for the heads‑up, 250 mg twice a day split around meals sounds like a solid start for me. I’ve read that others patch up to 500 mg twice a day, but the nausea part threw me off. I’m wondering if I should keep it at 250 mg and maybe add a small dose of something like vitamin C to help with absorption, or if I should try a pulsed schedule of, say, 500 mg twice a day for a week then off for a week to see if the GI kicks in. Also, how did the price trend over the last few months?
  • sleep_coastal: I’ve been on quercetin for a few months now. I start with 300 mg twice a day, taken with meals, and haven’t noticed any GI upset. Most folks I see on the boards stick to 500‑800 mg per day. The pulsed protocol people mention usually does the same dose for a few days and then a break, not a jump to higher amounts. I’d try quercetin alone first – no need to pair with dasatinib right away. Have you seen any folks with side‑effects at the higher end?
  • brandon_p: I’ve been taking 500 mg once with breakfast for about six weeks, no stomach trouble at all. Seems like the steady daily dose works fine for me, but I’m curious if anyone’s tried a higher pulse like 1 g for three days then off? 🤓 no?
  • coastal_chemist: I’ve been on 500 mg a day with breakfast for about three months now and no stomach cramps, so it’s worked fine for me too. I’ve never tried a 1 g pulse yet, but I’ve read people do it for 3‑4 days and then stop for a week. Do you know if the pulse causes any rebound or if it’s safer to keep it steady? Also, do you take it with a higher‑fat meal to boost absorption?
  • coastal_chemist: Thanks for that. I’ll start 300 mg BID with meals, just like you, and see how my stomach reacts. I’m still on the high‑end 500‑800 mg range with other users, anyone else see nausea or headaches at that level? I’m not yet on dasatinib, so I’ll wait to add it after a few weeks of quercetin alone.
