RU‑58841 scalp irritation – my first 6 weeks and what I learned

Not gonna lie, I was buzzing to try RU‑58841 after hearing it block DHT locally with no systemic fallout. I started at 50 mg in 1 mL daily, as the protocol suggests, and by day three my scalp felt tight and itchy. The first time I brushed it off as “just the product rubbing on my skin”, but the irritation kept popping up every night.
I added a light, fragrance‑free conditioner after rinsing off, and after about a week the dryness eased, but it still felt a bit prickly after application. I noticed that the irritation was worse on days I had shaved or used a harsh shampoo, so I switched to a gentler wash. I haven’t seen any serious inflammation or contact dermatitis so far, but I’ve kept a small log of how my scalp feels each time.
If you’re starting RU‑58841, I’d suggest a mild moisturizer and maybe a light skin barrier cream to keep the barrier intact. Keep an eye on any redness or blistering – if that happens, stop and consult a dermatologist.
