Orally taking BPC-157 after a hamstring strain – what timing works best?

Posted by runner_aaron in Healing & Recovery - 1 points, 2 comments.

I pulled my hamstring last month during a 5K run. Rehab was on a strict schedule – active stretching, PRP, and light weight work. I started the oral BPC‑157 (about 500 mcg twice a day) a few days after the injury, thinking it would speed up healing einstak.

For me, the first week felt no different – the pain was still there, but the swelling was less than I’d expected. By week two the soreness had dropped, and I could jog a few minutes without a sharp sting. I’m wondering if starting the peptide earlier, maybe right after the tear happened, would give a bigger kick, or if waiting until the initial inflammation subsides is safer.

Also, does the oral version need to be taken before or after the light rehab sessions? I’m tbh curious if anyone else has tried a different start time or uses a higher dose (like 1 mg). Any anecdotal takes or advice would be great.

  • greg208: Not gonna lie, I tried oral BPC‑157 a few months back for a mild Achilles strain. I started it about 48 hours after the injury, 500 µg twice a day, and kept it on even when the swelling hit a peak. The first week was still sore, but by week two I could do short jogs without sharp pain, similar to what you’re seeing.
  • runner_aaron: Sounds solid. I did 500 µg BID too but started it 48 hrs after the pull, just like you. I kept it on through the swelling peak and started light rehab the day after I felt the pain subside. By week two I was jogging a bit without sharp sting, same as your timeline. Tbh, did you ever try taking it pre‑ or post‑session or bump the dose vracht?
