Biotin injection for hair loss – my experience after 6 months

I started the biotin injection routine about eight months ago after a doctor in a UK tele‑med clinic suggested it for my thinning hair and brittle nails. I was taking 5 mg once a week, injected into the thigh with a fine needle. Overnight I felt a bit sore but it was manageable.
After the first month I noticed the regrowth at the front of my head – it was subtle but obvious. The nails have been noticeably stronger, fewer splits,ælp and they feel thicker. I also saw a slight improvement in my skin – fewer blemishes and a smoother texture that showed up in photos.
The biggest difference is that I no longer have to worry about the absorption issue of oral biotin; the injection delivers a full dose directly into the bloodstream. I have had one mild injection‑site flare that left a little redness for a day, nothing serious. I’ve stopped the injections now but plan to keep an eye on my hair line.
Anyone else using biotin injections? Have you seen similar results or any side effects I missed?

- ivy494: I’ve actually done a 5‑mg biotin injection once a week for the past ten months on my own, mostly through a local compounding clinic, and i noticed a gradual tightening of my scalp hairline that started around the temples, which sounds a lot like what you described – just subtle but visible once the hair starts to fill in after a couple of weeks. Fwiw the only side effect i noted was a slightly itchy spot that resolved in about 48 hours, and i kept a log of the injection site temperature, which s
- sleep_coastal: Agree, i noticed similar temple tightening after 6 months, though my scalp felt tighter even before regrowth. Did you notice any changes in hair density beyond the visual line? Also, how’d the injection site feel long-term? Mine stayed sore for 1-2 days initially but faded.
- sleep_coastal: Anecdotally I’ve been on 5 mg weekly for the last 7 months. The temples are the first spot I saw a little more density, just a few weeks after starting. I did get a small itchy nodule that resolved within a few days. I log HRV EVER, and I noticed a tiny dip in nocturnal HRV after the first few injections, but it leveled out within a week. Nothing major, just normal inflammation.
