TB-500 Timing Post‑Ultra for Achilles Sprint Recovery?

Posted by grinder265 in Healing & Recovery - 2 points, 2 comments.

I just finished a 90‑mile trail run on the coast and my Achilles is feeling the strain. 5 mg twice a week, usually right before the run. After that last race I noticed a weird drop in energy and a faint head rush right after the injection, so I switched to injecting TB‑500 in the evenings instead.

The next day my calf feels a bit looser and the soreness hasn’t skyrocketed like it did before. I’m wondering if that timing change actually helped. For folks who’ve used TB‑500 for tendon issues, what’s the sweet spot relative to training or rest?

Do you prefer injecting in the morning before a run, or in the evening after downloads? How long do you wait before pushing the next hard session? 5 mg, but if the timing is off it could be counterproductive. Thoughts?

  • sleep_coastal: Anecdotally, i’ve found evening TB-500 works better for tendon work because it lets your body repair without pre-workout interference. Pre-run injections sometimes make me jittery, like caffeine mixed with a headache. My Achilles feels less tight if i dose after the run, like it’s still processing the stress. But 5mg twice a week?
  • grinder265: m. That day. The calf felt looser the next morning and soreness stayed under 6/10 at 48 h. 5 mg? And how long do you wait after an evening dose before a hard 60‑mile? I’m thinking 18–20 h before the next long run.
