Trying NR 500mg daily with weekly low‑dose rapamycin – my 6 week log

I started taking 500mg NR each morning with my coffee and 4mg rapamycin every Sunday night. I am a powerlifter so I track sleep, morning readiness and how heavy my squats feel. First week I noticed a bit more vivid dreams and I woke up a little earlier than usual, felt kinda rested but also a bit hungry mid‑morning.

By week three my daytime energy felt steadier, less of the afternoon dip I used to get after lunch. My sleep tracker showed a slight increase in deep sleep minutes, maybe 10‑15% more, but I could not tell if that was just because I was going to bed earlier. Recovery between hard training days seemed a bit smoother, I had less lingering soreness after deadlift sessions.

No mouth sores or stomach upset, just a mild flushing feeling once after taking NR on an empty stomach, so now I always take it with food. I am curious if anyone else has tried this combo and what biomarkers they looked at, like fasting glucose or HDL. Just my own experience, not proof of anything.

  • casey613: I’ve messed around with NR before but never paired it with rapamycin, so your log is interesting to read. For me, 300mg NR with breakfast gave a noticeable bump in morning alertness and I did see my fasting glucose dip a few points after a couple of weeks, though HDL stayed flat. I never tried weekly rapamycin, but I’ve heard some folks watch liver enzymes and CRP when they add it in. Did you notice any change in your blood pressure or resting heart rate? Curious if the combo is affecting your
  • vo2max_sleep: I didn’t track BP or HR, focused on energy and soreness. Your glucose note is useful; mine stayed steady. Maybe try monitoring HR next time? Curious if your fasting glucose dip was with NR alone or the combo?
