KLOW with metformin on board, timing the AM dose around my run

Howzit, been running a KLOW style stack for about 6 weeks now for a grumpy Achilles and general recovery. So that's GHK-Cu around 200mcg, BPC-157 500mcg daily, KPV 500mcg daily, and TB-500 2.5mg twice a week.

I also take metformin, 500mg twice a day, mostly for the AMPK angle. My question is really about how you guys time everything on a training day. Mornings I train fasted around 5:30am, usually a 8 to 10km easy or a harder session, then I eat properly after.

So the sequence right now is metformin on waking, then I run, then I shower and inject BPC and KPV before breakfast. GHK-Cu I keep for evenings on pin days. The issue is metformin on an empty stomach before a hard run can wipe me out, but taking it post run with food seems to blunt the GI side a lot.

Curious how others split this. Do you move metformin to after training, or run it later in the day entirely? Also wondering if KPV in the morning does anything meaningful for post run inflammation or if I'm wasting a pin timing wise. Any input welcome, I just want the timing cleaner tbh.

  • greg208: Not gonna lie the metformin timing one is real. Ive had the exact same wiped out feeling on an empty stomach before training and moving it post run with food sorted me out as well. I dont have hard reasons for it, could just be the GI side being less brutal when theres food down, but it felt noticeably better within a week. On the KPV question im honestly not sure morning makes any difference. Ive tried both and couldnt tell, might be more about steady daily exposure than clocking it to inflamm
  • robin589: That tracks with what i'm seeing too, the metformin piece was a real thing once i moved it. On the KPV i think you're right that steady daily is probably what matters most, my cut was the same when i dropped it to every other day for a bit. Appreciate the input.
  • runner_aaron: Yeah the daily KPV thing seems to be the move, I'm gonna keep it at 500mcg every day and see if the gut stuff calms over the next few weeks. On metformin I'm gonna try pushing the AM dose to right after my run with breakfast, and keep the PM dose with dinner, see if that fixes the wiped out feeling on the harder sessions without losing the AMPK benefits. Tbqh I just don't want to drop it because the berberine I tried before gave me worse GI issues than the met does.
  • runner_aaron: Cheers greg208, that's basically where I landed too. I moved metformin to post run with my first proper meal and the nausea went from a solid 6 to maybe a 2, so I'll stick with that. On KPV, tbh I was probably overthinking the timing, you're right that steady daily exposure is probably the move rather than chasing some inflammatory window. One thing I noticed though, when I split BPC and KPV to opposite ends of the day (KPV morning with BPC, KPV evening solo) my gut seemed calmer than stacking
