Matrixyl 3000 actually worth it or just expensive moisturiser in a fancy bottle?

Right, ive been digging into the skincare peptide side of things for a bit now since im trying to look after my skin beyond just slapping sunscreen on. The Matrixyl 3000 combo keeps coming up, which is palmitoyl tripeptide-1 paired with palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 if im reading the profiles right.

The logic seems sound to my chemistry brain. One peptide is meant to signal fibroblasts to build new collagen by mimicking collagen breakdown products, and the other one tones down IL-6 inflammation so youre not breaking down what youve just built. Bit of a one-two punch on paper.

But heres my actual question. Has anyone here used a decent Matrixyl 3000 serum for a proper stretch, like 8 to 12 weeks, and actually noticed something? Im not after miracle cure nonsense, just whether it seemed to do more than a basic moisturiser would. I keep seeing the in-vitro stuff about collagen stimulation but im sceptical that topical concentrations translate to real visible difference.

Also curious if anyone has tried layering it with something like GHK-Cu or just kept it simple. Im a beginner at all this skincare peptide stuff so go easy on me.

For me the skin felt a tad smoother and the very fine lines around my eyes looked a bit less noticeable, but it was subtle enough that I wondered if it was just the extra hydration or a placebo effect. I didn’t layer it with GHK‑Cu because I wanted to keep things simple while I was learning, though I’ve heard some people pair them for a possible boost. Have you noticed a
