Cambridge finds common pesticides wreck gut bacteria, and safety tests never even looked

Cambridge researchers put together a dataset showing pesticides and other everyday chemical pollutants are toxic to the good bacteria in our gut, and the bit that got me is that standard chemical safety assessments basically do not consider the gut microbiome at all. Chemicals are designed to hit a target like insects, not screened for what they do to the microbes keeping us healthy. That feels like a pretty big blind spot when you think about how much of this stuff we are exposed to every day.

Im not gonna lie, this one sits with me because I take probiotics and watch what I put in my body, and it makes you wonder what damage is happening before anyone bothers to measure it. If a pesticide can wipe out beneficial strains and we never test for it, what else are we missing in the stuff people stack alongside their health routines. Do you reckon supplement and peptide users should be paying more attention to this kind of microbiome safety data, or is it just background noise compared to what we actually ingest.
