New here, trying to understand how to actually read a dosing protocol

Hi all, I finally joined after lurking for weeks. I have a very beginner question and I apologize if it is obvious.

When I look at a peptide profile here, the dose is listed as a range per kg of body weight (for example ACE-031 shows 0.3 to 3 mg/kg). I understand the math in theory (weight in kg times the mg/kg number) but I have no intuition for where within that range a person would realistically start. Is the low end just for first timers figuring out tolerance, and the high end for people with a specific goal, or does it depend on the compound? With something that has a half life of 10 to 14 days, does the every 2 to 4 weeks schedule mean people just pick a day and stick with it, or do they titrate up over time?

I have a science background so the mechanism writeups make sense to me, it is the practical side of turning a profile into an actual plan that I am stumbling on. Any pointers on how beginners are supposed to approach reading these, imo what should I focus on first?

  • grinder265: Ngl the dosing ranges are the part that confused me most when i started too. Half of it is honestly just that the early research used wide ranges and the profiles copied them straight, so the low end isnt always a "start here" and the high end isnt always "advanced." a lot of it depends on what the compound actually does and what youre tracking. For the long half life stuff like ACE-031 yeah people just pick a day and stay consistent, same as testosterone cypionate in trt. You dont really titra
  • runner_aaron: Yeah the "just pick a day and stay consistent" thing is what I keep coming back to tbh. With ACE-031 specifically though, are you seeing anyone actually run a mid-range dose or do most people just pin to the upper end since it's a once a week thing? I've got no clue how much the weekly timing alone changes what number you pick.
  • aisha_z: Honestly I haven't seen a clear pattern in the logs I've looked at. Some people seem to sit at the lower third forever and some jump to the upper end within a couple of cycles. Could just be a goal thing (the strength folks skew higher) but it's hard to say. With the weekly pin it does seem like the timing dominates the decision more than the number, imo. A day that fits your schedule and stays consistent week to week matters more than chasing the "right" mg/kg. Are you tracking your own doses
  • aisha_z: Honestly that tracks with my own confusion. The "start low" framing assumes the low end was chosen as a beginner dose, but you're saying the wide spread is sometimes just sloppy carryover from early animal work, not a deliberate titration ladder. That actually helps me reframe how I read the ranges. For the long half-life compounds, I'll just pick a consistent day and not overthink the timing question. Thanks grinder265, that point about the ranges being inherited from research rather than desi
