RU-58841 scalp irritation after 3 weeks, normal or am I doing something wrong?

Right so im about 3 weeks into topical RU-58841, 50mg/ml in a standard vehicle, applying once a day to the crown and hairline. First couple of weeks felt fine, no real reaction at all. But this past week the scalp has been noticeably dry and a bit itchy, especially around the temples where i probably went a bit heavy with the application. Its not red or angry, just flaky and tight, and i can see a bit of what looks like dry skin flaking off when i scratch.

Not gonna lie i was expecting something like this eventually since ive read irritation is the main complaint, but i wasnt sure if 3 weeks in is typical or if it means im reacting to the vehicle rather than the compound itself. Has anyone else had this kick in around week 3 and then settle, or is the usual advice to back off the frequency and see if it calms down? Im tempted to drop to every other day for a bit and see.

Also is there anything simple i should be doing alongside it to keep the scalp barrier happy, or is that overkill at this stage?

  • tiredmira: Yeah, that timing lines up with what I got too, basically my scalp started getting dry around week 3 on a similar concentration. Itchiness and flaking without redness sounds like the vehicle doing more work than the compound honestly. PG based solutions were worse for me than an ethanol based one. Dropping to every other day is what I did and it settled within a week or so. I also started putting a basic unscented moisturizer on the off days and that seemed to help the tight feeling. Not overk
  • quiet_ironman: Yeah same here, week three dryness hit me too. I switched to every other day and added a light ceramide cream on off days, the tightness eased after about five days. No redness, just flaky.
