GHK-Cu topical for a 3 month old quad strain, actually worth it?

Pulled my left quad decent about 3 months out from a trail race, did the usual rest then slow return to running. Strength is mostly back but the muscle still feels "thick" if that makes sense, like theres a knot that wont fully resolve. Im not trying to rush it back, i still have time.

Been reading about GHK-Cu topical and the gene expression stuff around collagen and tissue remodeling. The theory seems sound, copper peptides signaling collagen synthesis locally without systemic load. Curious if anyone has actually used it topically on a stubborn muscle issue this far out from the original injury, and what concentration and frequency.

Ngl im skeptical of topicals for deeper muscle tissue, skin penetration is the obvious question. But if theres a decent signal from people with similar timelines id give it a 6 to 8 week run alongside my current rehab work. Also open to hearing if oral BPC made more of a difference for you in the later remodeling phase vs the acute window.

  • noor_cooks: Interesting timing, I just started messing with GHK-Cu myself for a lingering thing and I had the same question about whether it actually gets down to muscle. From what I read it really does seem like its main thing is skin and the upper layers, so for a quad that feels "thick" three months out I'm not sure a topical is gonna move the needle much, mine felt more like a fascia issue than a muscle belly one. For the knot itself I had decent luck with dry needling from a sports med PT plus slow ec
  • coastal_chemist: Honestly the fascia call is probably right, three months out a topical isn't gonna do much for muscle belly tissue, the copper peptide stuff shines more for skin and superficial healing than deep muscle remodeling. Dry needling plus eccentric loading is solid advice, that thickened feeling often is scar tissue that just needs to be physically reorganized not chemically nudged. Might be worth a real eval if it doesn't budge soon though ❓
  • quiet_ironman: Yeah the skin-deep thing is what I keep hearing too, hard to imagine copper peptides punching through fascia to hit a stubborn quad spot 3 months out. Dry needling plus eccentrics is solid advice, I had a similar thing in my calf and it was the loading that finally got it moving, not anything topical 🔬
