Retatrutide week 6, HRV still a mess but scale finally cooperating

So I am basically 6 weeks in on reta and my weight loss finally kicked in after a really rough start. Down about 8 lbs in the last 3 weeks after basically nothing the first 3, so the delayed response thing is real for me.

The annoying part is my HRV is still way below my baseline. I was averaging around 65-70 ms on Whoop before starting and now I am sitting in the low 40s most mornings. Resting heart rate is up about 6-8 bpm too.

Sleep score looks fine, getting my normal 7+ hours, so it does not feel like a sleep quality issue. More like my body is just stressed from the caloric deficit or the compound itself.

Has anyone else tracked HRV on a GLP-1 and seen it bounce back? Trying to figure out if I should push through or back off the dose. I titrated up last week and the numbers got worse, not better.

  • quiet_ironman: I’ve seen a similar dip with semaglutide – my HRV dropped into the low 40s for about four weeks while the scale finally moved, then it crept back up to near baseline once my weight stabilized. For me it felt like the body was adjusting to the lower intake and the drug’s effect on gut hormones, not just poor sleep. I kept the dose steady, added a bit more salt and magnesium, and made sure my post‑workout cool‑down wasn’t too intense. After another couple of weeks the numbers improved. If yours k
  • tiredmira: Honestly the gut hormone angle you mentioned makes a lot of sense, I have not really thought about it that way beyond the caloric deficit piece. I am gonna hold my dose where it is and add the magnesium since I kinda dropped that recently. How long did the full bounce back take you, like weeks or months?
  • hank_sauna: Yeah the lag thing is real, mine played out almost the same on reta. The salt and magnesium tip is solid imo, made a noticeable diff for me when i added them in around week 4. If you havent already, might be worth tracking morning glucose too, sometimes that picks up stress before hrv does.
