Mazdutide vs tirz for someone who stalled at month 4 on tirz, anyone cross-shopped?

I have been on tirz since January and the first three months were honestly great, I dropped about 18 pounds and the appetite suppression felt pretty smooth. Around month 4 the scale basically froze though. I am eating in a slight deficit, lifting three times a week, walking a lot, and my weight has been bouncing in the same two pound window for almost six weeks now 😅

I have been reading about mazdutide since the dual GLP-1 and glucagon mechanism seems like it would actually do something different for stalled people like me. The hepatic fat piece is interesting too because my last bloodwork showed ALT creeping up.

For anyone who actually tried both, how did mazdutide feel compared to tirz on the appetite side? And was the GI stuff worse during titration or about the same?

I know nobody can tell me what to do here, I am just trying to get a feel for real experiences before I bring it up at my next appointment. Basically stuck between pushing my tirz dose higher or switching the whole train.

  • liam468: Appreciate you laying out the timeline, that helps a lot. I have not tried mazdutide myself so I can't speak to the switch, but the stall pattern you are describing lines up with what I have read, basically your body catches up to the caloric deficit and the med sort of plateaus with you. Have you recalculated your TDEE since you lost the 18 pounds? That is usually the first thing people miss, because the deficit you set in January is not the same deficit you need now. On the mazdutide questio
  • tired_grinder: Yeah the TDEE thing is huge, most people forget that as you drop weight you need less food so what was a deficit in January is just maintenance now? I made that same mistake once years ago when I cut without recalculating, took me a while to figure out why nothing was moving. Did you tighten up the calories or bump the cardio since the stall hit?
