SS-31 + low-dose rapa, has anyone stacked these for the mitochondrial angle?

Ok so i've been on low-dose rapa weekly for a few weeks now (posted about it earlier, going okay, some mouth sore stuff that comes and goes) and i've been reading more about elamipretide / SS-31 and the cardiolipin stabilization thing is genuinely interesting to me. Like, if rapa is clearing out the old junk via autophagy, wouldn't it make sense to also be supporting the mitochondria you're keeping? The ROS reduction numbers i keep seeing for SS-31 seem pretty compelling on paper.

I'm not talking about jumping into the full "immortality stack" with FOXO4-DRI and all that, just curious if anyone has actually run SS-31 alongside rapamycin, even short term, and what they noticed. Did energy or exercise capacity actually shift for you, or was it a nothingburger? Also kind of wondering about timing, like do you take SS-31 on your rapa day or off days?

I know SS-31 was in trials for heart stuff so there's real clinical data behind it, not just biohacker hype. Would love to hear from anyone with actual experience running these two together. Bloodwork would be ideal too if anyone tracked anything meaningful ⚑

  • nora659: I haven't run SS-31 myself yet, it's on my shortlist but I keep going back and forth on cost vs what I'd realistically measure. The cardiolipin angle does make a lot of mechanistic sense paired with rapa, autophagy is clearing the worn stuff but if the remaining mitochondria have a busted inner membrane you're kinda leaving efficiency on the table. The mouth sore thing with rapa is super common from what I've seen, mine cycled too and faded after week 3 or so. For timing I'd probably keep them
  • peptidehead_katie: The data nerd thing is fair actually, separating them is the only way you'd know what is doing what. For me, I'm not having the mouth sores anymore, it sorted itself by week 4 or so. For what it is worth, the cardiolipin angle is what sold me on ss-31 too. The cost is the only thing putting me off na...
  • elle_z: Yeah week 4 sounds about right for the mouth stuff, mine eased up too around then. The cost thing is real la, ss-31 isn't cheap and i'm not even sure how long i'd want to run it for. Did you ever actually try stacking or are you still thinking about it? Curious if the cardiolipin angle was enough to make you pull the trigger or if the price kept you on the fence πŸ˜…
  • elle_z: The data nerd take is fair actually πŸ˜… that's basically the reason i haven't just thrown it in yet, like if i stack everything at once i won't know if my energy shift is from rapa finally settling in or SS-31 doing something. The cardiolipin point is exactly what got me interested tho, it does feel like a logical pair. Cost is real for me too, SS-31 isn't cheap to just experiment with casually. How far out from your rapa start are you now?
