Fast Company covered a new study suggesting that tyrosine, the amino acid a lot of us use to sharpen focus under stress or sleep deprivation, might be linked to a shorter lifespan. That part of the nootropic stack is usually treated as pretty harmless, so this caught my eye fast.

Honestly I am skeptical but not dismissing it. Mouse data on single compounds tends to oversell the human story, and dose, timing, and what you already eat probably matter a lot. Still, it is a useful nudge to actually track what you are taking instead of just adding things because they feel productive in the moment. I have used tyrosine on heavy deadline days and the focus bump felt real, but "feels real short term" is exactly the trap the article is pointing at.

Has anyone else been rethinking the "safe basic" nootropics after reading stuff like this, or do you wait for human trials before changing anything?
