Ipa + cjc timing on an empty stomach, does it actually matter that much?

Been running cjc 1295 no dac at night with ipa for a few weeks now. Timing it roughly an hour after my last meal, then waiting till morning to eat. Sleep has been noticeably deeper and i'm waking up less, which i wasn't really expecting to be honest.

Bit of a devils advocate question though. Everyone bangs on about "fasted state for max gh pulse" but how much of that is actually evidence based vs just bro science repeated enough times to become gospel. Like is there decent data showing the gh spike is meaningfully blunted if you've got a bit of food in you, or are we all just being precious about it.

Also tempted to add a morning pin on workout days but not sure if it's worth the hassle. Anyone actually run a twice daily protocol and felt a real difference, or is the single night dose doing most of the work anyway...

  • grinder265: Ngl i had the same question when i started. I played with food timing a bit and honestly could not tell a real difference in how i felt or slept whether i pinned 30 min after eating or fasted for 2 hrs. The deep sleep thing only kicked in once i nailed the timing consistently, food or not. For the morning pin on training days, i tried it for a few weeks. Felt like a small bump in recovery and felt less beat up the next day, but it also wrecked my appetite right before breakfast which sucked. If
  • coastaldiego: Yeah fwiw i had a similar thing, the morning pin crushed my appetite too and im already sketchy about eating breakfast. Ended up moving it post workout and the recovery bump still seemed there without the appetite thing. Did you ever try pinning pre workout vs after to compare?
  • tired_lifter20: Havent tried the pre workout pin yet. I was worried about the appetite thing you mentioned because i already struggle to eat enough on training days... Reckon it might be worth a go to see if the energy shift is actually real or just in my head. If you moved it to post workout, did you still keep that fasted window or just pin it right before a meal?
  • fasted_scientist: Fair play for actually testing it instead of just parroting the fasting rule. The appetite suppression on training days is a proper underrated downside, I never see that mentioned when people bang on about morning pinning. Curious though, when you say you "couldn't tell a real difference" between 30 min post meal vs 2 hrs fasted, was that gut feel or were you tracking anything objective? Sleep score, HRV, anything? (ngl the deep sleep thing landing once you got consistent timing could honestly
  • tired_lifter20: Tbh it was just gut feel, no sleep tracker or anything proper. Maybe i should start though since you're right the sleep thing could just be routine settling in. The appetite thing on training days is real though, hadn't even connected it til you said it. Might just stick with nights if i can't eat enough around workouts anyway...
  • tired_lifter20: Honestly that matches what i was hoping to hear, that the fasted thing is probably overstated. I'll stop stressing about the exact window and just keep it roughly an hour after food like now. The morning pin wrecking appetite is a fair shout though, hadn't thought about that. Post workout might be the move instead, did you notice any difference pinning it then vs true fasted in the morning?
