Ca-AKG + rapamycin, anyone actually combining these?

So i've been digging into the longevity stuff for a few months now and keep coming back to ca-akg. The profile says it drops inflammation and helps with biological aging markers, plus it's a kreb's cycle intermediate which is cool on paper. But here's my question, has anyone here actually stacked it with low-dose rapamycin?

My thinking is rapa hits mtor/autophagy and ca-akg supports the energy side and collagen stuff, so maybe they complement each other instead of overlap. I'm not running either yet btw, still in research mode. Fwiw i'd want bloodwork before touching rapa since it's a real rx and the lipid/wound healing stuff gives me pause 🕰️ for those who do use ca-akg, did you notice anything concrete or was it subtle enough that you couldn't tell?

Also curious if timing matters, like take it fasted or with food. Trying to build a sensible stack and not just throw darts at the wall. Any input appreciated, citations even better lol.

  • fasted_scientist: Here on ca-akg alone (skipped rapa for now, same reservations as you on wound healing). Took roughly 1g on an empty stomach most mornings for a few months. Honestly? Couldn't tell you if it did anything objective. Felt a bit more "even" through the day maybe, but that could easily be placebo or just better sleep hygiene kicking in at the same time. Nothing I'd call concrete. Your mechanistic logic makes sense on paper (mTOR block + anaplerotic support), but that's two unproven things stacking
  • tiredmira: Honestly "two unproven things stacking into four unproven things" is basically the line I keep coming back to 😅 I tracked HRV and sleep on ca-akg for maybe 6 weeks and saw basically nothing move. Could just be me though, my baseline is already pretty solid so there's not much room to improve. Did you do any bloodwork on it? Curious if inflammation markers budged at all for you.
  • coastaldiego: Ha fair point on the stacking thing, that's basically why i'm still in research mode and not running either yet 🕰️ fwiw no bloodwork yet either, that was gonna be my next step before i touched rapa specifically. Bummer you didn't see HRV move though, 6 weeks seems like a decent trial run. What dose were you on if you don't mind me asking? And was it fasted or with food, trying to figure out if that matters at all.
  • coastaldiego: Yeah that "two unproven things become four" line is honestly kind of brutal but fair lol. The more i read the more i think i'm right to sit on rapa until i have baseline lipids and a plan for the wound healing tradeoff. The 1g fasted morning dose is helpful tho, gives me a starting point to read more around. Did you ever move off it or are you still on it?
