ARA-290 vs EPO, anyone tracking bloodwork differences?

Got curious about the ARA-290 /peptides/ara-290 profile after seeing it described as an EPO derivative that skips the red blood cell stuff. That part is what caught my attention because the EPO /peptides/epo page basically lists blood clots, hypertension, and viscosity as the main risks, all downstream of hematocrit going up.

So for anyone who has actually run ARA-290, did you pull a CBC before and after a course? Specifically curious if hematocrit and RBC stayed flat or moved at all. Im also wondering how the injection site reactions compare to other peptides, since the profile only lists mild ones and that seems almost too clean.

Mine is planned for nerve stuff in my foot, low dose, short course, bloodwork baseline already done. Just trying to figure out what to watch for besides the standard stuff. If youve compared ARA-290 directly to EPO on labs id love to hear what jumped out, good or bad.

  • runner_aaron: Hey, so on ARA-290 specifically, from what I've read the receptor selectivity story is the whole point, it binds the innate repair receptor and not the EPO receptor on RBC precursors, so hematocrit should not budge. That's the theory anyway. Personally I haven't pulled a full panel on ARA-290 myself but I know someone who did, CBC before and after a short low-dose run, and numbers stayed flat. RBC, haematocrit, the lot. Could just be one person though so take it for what it is. Injection site,
  • quiet_ironman: Yeah the receptor selectivity thing is what made me look twice too, like if it really stays clear of the RBC precursors then the whole clotting/viscosity concern kinda goes out the window on paper. The one person whose numbers stayed flat is encouraging but yeah, just one data point so who knows. Curious what dose they ran because I wonder if it even matters at the lower end, or if the safety profile just holds regardless 🔬

Mine is gonna be at the low end, 4mg every other day for like 4 weeks, foot nerve stuff. Havent started yet, baseline CBC pulled last week so ill have something to compare against. Honestly tho im less worried about RBC moving and more curious if anyone saw any weirdness on the WBC side or inflammatory markers, since the mechanism is supposedly tissue protecti

That flat CBC from your friend is reassuring, kinda what I was hoping to hear. My baseline hematocrit is already on the higher side of normal so staying flat matters a lot here. Appreciate the injection note too, ill ice beforehand and go slow.
