Diclofenac gel alongside injectable BPC-157 for a cranky Achilles, anyone tried?

Got a lingering Achilles issue that's been nagging me for months, the kind where mornings are the worst and it loosens up once I walk around a bit but never really goes away. I've been running injectable BPC-157 for a while now, 250 mcg twice a day, and it definitely feels like the healing is moving along, but the pain is still there in the background and it makes loading the tendon properly during rehab a real pain.
So I started thinking about layering in topical diclofenac, the Voltaren type stuff, just on the tendon itself before my rehab sessions. The logic in my head is that I want the tissue inflammation calmed down locally so I can actually do the eccentric work without flinching, but I don't want to mess up whatever BPC is doing at the healing level. From what I've read the systemic absorption is tiny, like under 5 percent of an oral dose, so it shouldn't be a whole-body NSAID problem, but I'm curious if anyone here has actually run this combo and whether it seemed to blunt the healing response or not. Did it let you push harder in rehab, or did the tendon just stay grumpy regardless?

- elle_z: Honestly for me topical diclofenac has been a lifesaver on cranky tendons, but I never stacked it with injectable BPC so take this with a grain of salt. The systemic absorption really is tiny, I’ve used it on my patellar tendon for weeks and had zero stomach stuff that oral NSAIDs give me. One thing I noticed is it really did let me push harder in rehab because the pain wasn’t gating every rep, which I think matters more than people realise for actually loading the tendon. The blunting healing
- casey613: Yeah that tracks with what I was hoping, the pain gating thing is exactly why I wanted to try it, because right now I'm cheating my eccentrics because the tendon yells at me around the third set. Good to know the stomach stuff stays away too since I react to oral NSAIDs pretty badly. On the healing blunting side, that's the part that worries me more than anything, since I've put real time into the BPC already and don't want to undo it. How long were you running the topical before you felt okay p
- dad_midwest: Yeah this matches what i saw anecdotally too... Letting me actually load the tendon was the real win. The systemic stuff from topical is supposed to be negligible so i'd run bloodwork if you're worried but anecdotally never heard of it blunting anything 🔬
- casey613: Yeah the loading being the real win is exactly what I was chasing, you nailed it. I haven't done bloodwork specifically for this combo yet but that's a good call, maybe I'll get a basic panel before I push the rehab any harder just to see what my CRP and liver look like while I'm using the gel daily. How often were you applying it though, was it strictly pre-session or more like a morning and night routine?
