Sleep depth difference: ipa/cjc vs MK-677 on its own

I have been running different GH secretagogue setups for a while now and the sleep thing is what keeps grabbing my attention. When I do ipamorelin with CJC no-DAC before bed, the deep sleep feels noticeably better for me. I wake up clearer and my training recovery the next day seems quicker, though I am aware this could be placebo.

When I switched to MK-677 alone for a few weeks the sleep was still good but different. Deeper at times, but I woke up a couple of nights feeling a bit groggy, and the hunger was honestly annoying, especially late evening. Fasting glucose also nudged up on my bloodwork which made me uneasy so I stopped.

Right now I do low dose ipa and CJC no-DAC about 5 nights a week, skip two. Curious if anyone else noticed the MK-677 sleep quality drop off compared to the ipa/CJC combo, or if it was the opposite for you. Also does anyone know if there is proper research on the morning grogginess with MK-677 or is it mostly anecdotal?

  • fasted_scientist: Yeah the hunger alone on mk-677 would put me off ngl, late evening snacking wrecked my sleep way more than any peptide could fix. And the glucose bit is a fair reason to stop, that's not nothing on bloods. On your actual question, the mk-677 grogginess thing in the literature is mostly hand-wavy from what i've seen. There's work showing it shifts sleep architecture toward more stage 2 and less rem, which could explain the "deeper but foggy" feel, but it's not exactly settled science either. Wou
  • riley_p: Yeah the late evening snacking is what really made me quit honestly. I would wake up at 2am hungry after I had dosed earlier that day, which defeats the whole purpose if you are trying to optimise recovery through sleep. Interesting point about stage 2 vs rem shifting. I had not seen that framed that way before, just vague "deeper sleep" claims in some of the bro-science write-ups. Do you happen to remember which studies looked at the architecture shift specifically? Would like to actually read
  • tired_mom: Yeah the late night hunger was the worst part for me too, it's like the ghrelin spike just overrides any kind of sensible eating window. Glucose moving up on bloods was the real reason I stopped as well, not worth messing around with insulin sensitivity for sleep that felt more like sedation than actual rest. On the sleep architecture point, interesting that you mention stage 2 going up, do you have the study handy? I've only seen the old oral mk-677 papers from like 20 years ago, would like to
  • riley_p: Yeah the hunger was honestly the thing that pushed me to stop too, well that and the glucose creeping up on bloods. And honestly, "more like sedation than actual rest" is exactly how I would put it. Could not have said it better myself. On the stage 2 thing, I do not actually have a study handy, that is on me. I was going off how it felt to me and a few things I have read anecdotally on here and elsewhere. If you come across anything recent though please share, I would also like to read somethi
