This BBC article discusses how an FDA panel is voting to potentially loosen the current restrictions on several controversial peptides. It notes that while these compounds are widely available online, they are not approved for human use and lack the strict quality controls found in traditional pharmaceuticals.

I find the focus on the grey area between legality and safety quite interesting. From my own research and the data I track, the lack of quality control is the biggest worry for me. It is not even about whether the peptides work, because for many people they seem to have a real effect on things like healing or metabolism. The real issue is knowing exactly what is in the vial. If the rules loosen, we might get better oversight, but I am also worried that it might just lead to more low quality products flooding the market under a veneer of legitimacy.
