BPC-157 oral vs injectable for a grumbling patellar tendon, what actually moved the needle?

Hey. I've been nursing a grumbly patellar tendon for about 4 months now, the kind that flares up after deadlifts or long runs and just never fully goes away. I've done all the boring rehab stuff, isometrics, slow eccentrics, load management, the works. Some days it feels fine, other days it's there like a stale headache.

I ran injectable BPC-157 a while back for a different issue and it seemed to help, but that was an acute thing, not a chronic tendon. For something like this where I'd need a longer run, I'm weighing oral BPC-157 arginate for convenience, since I'm not keen on pinning daily for 6-8 weeks.

For those who've actually compared the two on a stubborn tendon issue specifically, did the oral version feel like it did anything, or is inject still the way to go for this kind of tissue? I've read that oral is more gut-focused and the systemic effect is weaker, but not sure how much that actually matters for tendon repair.

What timing around physio seemed to work best, before or after sessions? Any blunt feedback welcome, I'm trying to set realistic expectations before committing.

  • elle_z: The tendon thing is so annoying leh, that on-and-off niggle that won't quit πŸ˜… i've had a grumbly proximal hamstring for months and tried oral BPC arginate for about 5 weeks just because i cbbd with pinning daily. Honestly couldn't tell you with any confidence it did much for that specific spot. Gut felt calmer for sure, sleep maybe a touch better, but the tendon was pretty much the same on load days. Inject for an acute injury years back felt more noticeable but that was a different situation
  • runner_aaron: Yeah that tracks with what I've been thinking tbh. The acute response from inject felt real for me too, but chronic tendon is a different beast. Did you notice any timing where the oral seemed to kick in, even slightly, or was it basically flat the whole 5 weeks?
  • aisha_hikes: Yeah the boring answer being true is the annoying part innit. I've had the same niggle in my Achilles for ages and injectable BPC seemed to do more than oral for me too, though whether that was the peptide or just time is hard to say. For chronic tendon stuff the load management is what actually shifts it in my experience, not anything else.
  • runner_aaron: Tbh that's what I was expecting to hear. The load management thing has been the biggest piece for me too, my isometrics definitely helped more than anything else. How long did you run the injectable before you noticed anything with the Achilles, and did you pin daily or every second day? Trying to figure out a realistic timeline before I commit to 6 weeks of daily jabs.
