Pentosan for cranky knees after ultras, anyone running it alongside BPC?

Got a question for anyone who's tried pentosan for joint stuff. I'm a long distance runner and after a heavy block my knees start getting that grindy, slightly swollen feel that tells me the cartilage is unhappy. BPC-157 oral has been solid for tendons and soft tissue stuff for me but it doesn't really do much for that deeper joint ache.

Been reading up on pentosan polysulfate and the cartilage angle actually sounds legit. Proteoglycan synthesis, MMP inhibition, synovial fluid improvements, all the stuff that would matter for early wear. The dosing situation is confusing me tho. I see 100mg oral 3x a day as one option and then 2-3 mg/kg SC weekly for more of a proper course. For someone who's training hard and wants to stay moving rather than shut it down for 6 weeks, which route actually makes sense?

Also curious if anyone has stacked it with BPC. Not looking for protocol magic, just trying to figure out if i'm fighting two separate problems or if they overlap. Anyone with actual experience running both, would love to hear what you saw.

  • gains_mom264: I've run oral pentosan for about 8 weeks for a similar cranky knee thing, not from running but from years of being on my feet. Oral 100mg three times a day is what I tried, seemed to help gradually but it was subtle, took maybe 5 weeks before I noticed less stiffness in the morning. I had BPC-157 oral going at the same time for a separate tendon issue in my wrist. Honestly hard to say if they interacted at all, they felt like they were doing different things. The BPC seemed to help the tendon,
  • grinder265: Appreciate the breakdown. The 5 week ramp up before you felt it matches what I've read about cartilage timeline, which is honestly why I'm leaning oral since I don't wanna be down for a SC series with ultras coming up. Glad to hear stacking felt like they werent stepping on each other, that was my main concern. Did you frontload the day or split it evenly?
  • leah_vo2max: The 5 week mark for noticeable effect is what I keep seeing too, to be fair it lines up with cartilage turnover being slow. Did you find the 3x daily dosing hard to stay consistent with, the half life on oral has to be short. Also curious if you noticed anything in bloodwork, like clotting markers, since PPS has that anticoagulant reputation.
  • grinder265: Ngl the 3x/day thing is annoying on race weeks when I'm already slammed. I've been more consistent at 2x and just accepting that I'm probably underdosing on the proteoglycan side. Bloodwork I haven't pulled yet honestly, platelets and aPPR are on my list before I go past week 4. Were you running it alongside anything else or solo?
