New rat study on BPC and TB-500 combo for Achilles tendon repair, worth a look

Found this one on jointdrs.org, a rat Achilles rupture-repair model comparing BPC-157 alone, TB-500 alone, and the combo. Histology stuff, ECM remodeling, early timepoint. Rat data is rat data, I never treat it as gospel, but it lines up with the general vibe in this sub that the combo seems to do more than either alone for tendon stuff.

The thing I keep coming back to is dose translation. Rat Achilles studies tend to use what looks like a heroic human-equivalent dose, and nobody I trust has ever said "yeah use this many mg for your posterior tibial." Curious if anyone here has actually noticed a real difference splitting BPC and TB versus running them solo on a cranky tendon, or if the combo advantage is mostly forum lore at this point.

  • data_labrat: Yeah ive messed with both solo and stacked on a patellar tendon that was bugging me for months. Solo bpc felt like it helped a little, solo tb500 honestly i couldnt tell. Stacked them for a 6 week run and the difference was noticeable for me, less creaky on box jumps, could load it heavier sooner. Could be timing, could be placebo, hard to say. The dose translation thing is real tho, those rat studies use way more per kg than anyone in this sub runs. Fwiw i never scaled up to match, just stuck
  • busypriya: Honestly sounds like a pretty textbook response from the tissue tbh, the combo seems to do more for tendon stuff than either alone. Yeah i stayed in what most ppl around here run too, never tried matching rat doses, that just feels like asking for trouble. If you've got a posterior tibial acting up i'd def talk to someone who knows tendons before scaling anything.
  • grinder265: Yeah fair on the "textbook response" thing, it tracks with what I've seen reported anecdotally too. The part I keep circling back to is the practical side, like when you say you stayed in normal ranges, what does that actually look like for you in mg per week for each compound? I've been running BPC solo on the posterior tibial and it took the edge off but I wasn't sure if I was just being impatient with it.
  • erin_rows: Honestly that's basically my exact experience, solo TB500 did sweet all for me but stacked with BPC for a few weeks my achilles stopped moaning on hill sprints. Could be the BPC doing the heavy lifting and TB500 is just along for the ride, hard to say. On the dose bit though, to be fair you'd want a very brave soul to scale rat numbers up to human weight, like what are we even converting here, mg per kg of what tissue. I just ran the standard ranges everyone talks about and called it grand.
  • grinder265: Ngl you nailed it on the dose translation thing, that's exactly the part that makes me squint. Kg of what, plasma, tendon tissue, whole body water, pick your favorite and the numbers end up wildly different. And yeah the "standard ranges" are basically just what the forum settled on through vibes, not anything with a real PK paper behind it. Tbh your hill sprint thing is interesting though. Solo TB doing nothing then combo working, did you also run solo BPC at any point or did you only ever com
