Injection site reactions, how much redness is normal?

So I'm pretty new to injectable peptides and I've been getting these small red spots at the injection sites, kinda like mosquito bites that fade after a few hours but sometimes they stick around for most of the day and get a little itchy. I've been doing subcutaneous in the belly area and switching spots each time like people say to do but I still get these reactions and I'm not sure if that's just part of the process or if I'm doing something wrong. I've read that some people get injection site reactions with certain peptides and it doesn't necessarily mean anything bad but I'd rather ask people who've been doing this longer than just guess.

Is there a point where redness or swelling means you should stop and get it checked out? Like if it spreads or gets warm to the touch or lasts more than a day? I'm trying to be careful here and not just brush stuff off because I felt fine overall. Any input from folks who've dealt with this would be appreciated, thanks.

  • elle_z: Yeah the mosquito bite thing is super common from what i've seen, especially in the belly area where the skin is more sensitive. For me it was usually gone within a few hours but occasionally lingered into the next day if i hit a spot i'd used recently without remembering 😅 Warm to the touch or spreading redness is the line i'd personally not mess with, that's when i'd want a proper opinion instead of waiting it out.   • aspiring_codes: Yeah the warm to the touch thing is a good call out. For me what helped was letting the alcohol dry completely before pinning and not rubbing the spot after. Also i use 31g 5/16 and those barely feel like anything. How long are you waiting between site rotations? Like are you giving each spot a few days off or just hopping around randomly?
  • riley77: Good call on the alcohol drying thing, I think I was being impatient and probably going right in while it was still kinda wet. I'll make sure to wait longer next time. And I've been rotating pretty randomly honestly, sometimes I'll use the same side two days in a row if I'm in a rush. Maybe that's why some areas get more irritated than others. I'll try giving them a couple days off between hits and see if that helps. The 31g tip is appreciated too, I might need to look into getting some thinner
  • riley77: About hitting a spot too soon, I definitely don't keep the best track of where I last injected honestly. The warm/spreading thing is what I figured too, good to have someone confirm that line isn't me being paranoid about it. Yeah I'm using 30g 5/16 syringes already, switching to something shorter would mean ordering new ones.
