RU-58841 scalp irritation after 3 weeks, anyone else?

Started RU about 3 weeks ago at 50mg/mL, once a day after shower. First two weeks felt nothing, which I was happy about. Then around week 3 the top of my head got noticeably itchy and flaky, kinda like a mild sunburn peeling. Not painful but it's annoying and I can see flakes on dark shirts.

I haven't changed shampoo or anything else in my routine. Wondering if this is just an adjustment thing or if the concentration is too high for my skin. I read the profile on /peptides/ru-58841 and it mentions scalp irritation and contact dermatitis as known sides but wanted to ask people who actually ran it.

Did it calm down for anyone who pushed through, or did you have to drop the frequency? Thinking about skipping every other day for a bit and seeing if it settles. Also curious if anyone tried a lower concentration like 30-40mg/mL before going to 50 and if that made a real difference. Skin on my face is on the sensitive side so maybe I'm just prone to reacting.

  • mel105: For me it was the carrier that did it, not the RU itself. I was using a standard PG mix and the top of my scalp got the same itchy peeling thing around week 3, kinda like what you described. I dropped to every other day for a week, no change, then switched to a lower percentage of PG with more ethanol and it calmed right down in like 4 or 5 days. So if i were you ma'am i'd skip the every other day plan first and just dilute the same batch down to 35mg/mL with more vehicle, see if that fixes it.
  • honest_cycles: That's a fair point about the carrier, but have you actually tested RU-free vehicle on your scalp to confirm? Could just be the ethanol drying things out and masking the original problem... For me when I had similar irritation, it was hard to tell what was causing what without eliminating one variable at a time.
  • rational_experiment: Interesting take on the carrier being the culprit. For a while i thought the same thing when i tried ru, but the more i read the more it seems irritation timing varies a lot person to person. Dropping to 35mg/ml is a sensible first move though, agree there. Did you keep the same application frequency when you diluted it, or did you also change how often you applied?
  • jake_hrv: Tbh my first thought was the carrier too, pg vs etho or whatever they use. I didnt change frequency, just diluted down to 35 with the same solvent it came in and kept it once a day. Seemed to help within a week or so but hard to say if it was dilution or just my skin adjusting. Did the timing of your irritation line up with when you applied or was it more constant?
  • jake_hrv: You're right, I haven't isolated the vehicle. I only have the one bottle so I can't really do a clean vehicle-only test tbh. The carrier does have ethanol in it so drying makes sense as a contributor. Maybe I'll dilute the next batch down with the same carrier to lower the concentration per application and see if the irritation scales with that. Did you ever pin down what yours actually was, or did you end up just dropping frequency and calling it good?
  • jake_hrv: Appreciate the response. PG is actually the most likely culprit here then, especially since nothing changed in week 1-2 and then it hit. Did you titrate up the ethanol ratio gradually or just swap the mix cold turkey? I have some ethanol on hand so I could try bumping it, just don't want to trade one irritant for another. Also weird that it took 3 weeks to show up if it was the carrier the whole time. Did yours ever come back after you fixed the mix, or was it a one and done thing once you dilu
