Lipid panel shifts on low-dose oxandrolone, anyone else?

I want to share something I noticed on my own bloodwork, for what it is worth. I ran a low therapeutic dose of oxandrolone for about 8 weeks, split into two doses a day like the profile suggests. Strength went up nicely and I dropped a bit of stubborn belly fat, no water weight, no real mood issues. Felt mild.
Then I got a lipid panel done at the end. HDL had dropped quite a lot from where it was 6 months earlier, and LDL had crept up. My fasting glucose and liver markers were still in range, but the lipid shift was bigger than I expected at that dose.
I have read before that oxandrolone has a milder lipid profile than a lot of orals, and that seemed to hold true compared to what friends on higher doses have shown me. But "milder" is not "neutral". I will be watching this closely and spacing any future runs out longer, with bloodwork before and after. If anyone here has tracked lipids on a similar protocol I would be curious what you saw and how long it took to bounce back after stopping. Always worth treating your own numbers as the real reference, not forum averages.

- grace606: Honestly that lines up with what i saw on a mate's bloods, his HDL tanked on even a low oxa run and took a good few months to climb back. Were you running any cardio during or was it mostly just lifting? I'm wondering how much that moves the needle on its own. Also curious if you had a fasting insulin done, cos my DPT brain always wants to look past just the LDL number to see what the actual particle pattern looks like. Lipids on orals never fully freak me out but a big HDL drop is the one i k
- tired_peptidehead: About cardio. I do walk a lot, maybe 8 to 10 kilometres a day with the dog, but no structured cardio sessions during the run. Just lifting four times a week. Fasting insulin was not done, that is a fair point. I only had a standard panel that time, so I am working with what I have. Next round I will ask for a more complete metabolic picture, including insulin and an ApoB if the GP will order it. The HDL drop is the bit I keep coming back to as well.
- early_rows: Yeah cardio matters a fair bit here honestly. I do mostly zone 2, maybe 3-4 sessions a week, and my HDL tends to sit higher than it would otherwise. Lifting alone won't protect the number on oxa. No fasting insulin in that panel, which is a fair point, I should have asked for it. Worth checking next round for sure.
- tired_peptidehead: Yeah, the fasting insulin is a good call. I did not have that one run, just the standard lipid plus liver stuff. I will ask for it next time and also throw in apoB since people here keep saying it is more useful than plain LDL. For what it is worth my zone 2 is pretty limited, mostly walks with the dog and the odd bike ride. I should probably be doing more structured sessions if I want to keep running oxa now and then.
