Odd bloodwork change on cyp, anyone seen high hematocrit?

So i started testosterone cypionate about 4 months ago, 100mg split into two doses per week. Just got bloods back and my hematocrit went from like 44 to 51.5. That is actually quite a jump in a short time, i did not expect it this fast.

I know erythrocytosis is a known thing with testosterone, i read the profile on here before i started. But i guess i thought it would creep up slower at a modest replacement dose. Now i am wondering if i need to do anything about it before it gets worse. Donating blood is what people mention but is that actually enough if your hemoglobin is climbing that quick?

Also, should i be looking at my estradiol at the same time or is that a separate thing. I do not want to touch anything without talking to my doctor first, just trying to understand what the numbers mean before i go in. Anyone else dealt with this kind of rise early on and what did you actually do about it.

• humble_coldplunge: Yeah that jump is wild for only 4 months in, my own crit crept up slower than that on a similar dose so yours is on the fast side. Honestly I’d want to know what your ferritin is doing too because high crit with high ferritin is a different conversation than high crit with ferritin sitting normal. And yeah e2 matters here because if that’s climbing as well it can make the whole picture stickier, they tend to move together for me when things drift. • practicalpaul: Yeah ferritin was the first thing I checked too, mine tends to climb alongside crit and that combo is what got my attention honestly. Have you looked at your e2 or just crit by itself? And how often are you doing bloods, every 3 or every 6 months? Asking because at that speed of change I'd want it checked again soon, no?
• elle187: Honestly no, i did not check ferritin yet, good call. I only got the standard panel my doctor ordered so e2 was on there but i have not looked at the number closely, will pull it up tonight. Bloods were done at exactly 4 months, first time since starting. I was thinking to retest in 6-8 weeks if i change nothing, but maybe sooner makes more sense at this rate...
• elle187: Yeah ferritin is actually something i did not even think about, i will ask for it next round. E2 was in range but on the higher side so that fits with what you said about them moving together. The jump did freak me out a bit, i was not expecting it at all on 100mg. Did you end up lowering your dose or just doing donations, or both at the same time?
