Anyone tried ergothioneine alongside rapamycin, overlap or overkill?

Bit new to all this so bear with me. Been on low dose rapamycin for around 5 months now through a longevity clinic, weekly pulse, bloods looked fine and i feel a bit sharper in the mornings, though could easily be placebo.
Reading about ergothioneine and the fact body has a dedicated transporter for it (OCTN1) that pulls it into cells under oxidative stress caught my attention. So its basically sitting in mitochondria protecting them from damage, and tissue levels stay high for weeks.
Since rapa is mainly about mTOR and autophagy, and ergothioneine is more of a straight antioxidant that accumulates long term, the mechanisms dont really overlap much in my head. Not trying to stack everything just because, but wondering if anyone here runs them together and if it makes sense on paper. Also is 10 to 15mg a sensible starting point given the 5 to 25mg range i saw, or would you go lower to see how you tolerate it first.

- humble_zone2: Honestly they do feel pretty different to me mechanistically, like you said. Rapa is hitting that mTOR/autophagy angle and ergothioneine is just kinda sitting there in mitochondria being a buffer. Stacking them doesnt scream redundant to me. I've been playing with ergothioneine for a few months now (not on rapa) and started at like 10mg, bumped to 15 after a couple weeks. Didnt really "feel" anything dramatic but i had a few long travel weeks and bounced back from the flights faster than i expe
- vik_trains: Cheers, that lines up with what i was thinking on the overlap bit. Going lower than 10 to start is a fair shout, didnt really consider that since its mostly thought of as low risk. Did you take it daily or just a few times a week, and morning or evening? Im trying to figure out how to slot it in around my rapa pulse day without overthinking the timing.
