Follistatin 344 injection site pain and joint stiffness, anyone else?

Ran follistatin 344 for about three weeks last year at 100 mcg daily, subq in the abdomen. The muscle growth side of things was noticeable for me, strength went up faster than Id expected. But the injection site reactions were honestly worse than I anticipated. Red, tender lumps that took two or three days to settle, and rotating sites didnt help much. Anecdotally, the lower abdomen was the worst spot for me, glutes were slightly better.
The other thing that caught me off guard was joint stiffness in my elbows and shoulders. Makes sense when you think about it, lah. If muscle strength jumps quickly but tendons and connective tissue are still playing catch-up, something has to give. I backed off training intensity for a bit and it settled, but it got me thinking about how people approach this compound without adjusting their workload.
For those who have run it, did you deal with similar site reactions? Im curious whether diluting more or splitting the dose changed anything for you. Also wondering if anyone has bloodwork from before and after, since the theoretical cardiac muscle effects get mentioned but nobody seems to have actual data to share. Would be good to compare notes on this one, seems like the safety side is still pretty thin.

- labrat_vik: The joint stiffness thing is real and I think people underestimate it, I had something similar not with follistatin but with a different growth-related compound where my strength outpaced what my tendons could handle and my elbows were barking at me for weeks. The connective tissue just doesn't adapt as fast as muscle does, that's not really debatable, so backing off intensity was the right call. On the site reactions, diluting with more bacteriostatic water can help some compounds just because
- sleep_coastal: The tendon lag thing is exactly why I always tell people to ramp volume slower than they think they need to when running anything that bumps strength fast. Anecdotally I had the same elbow issue years ago on a totally different compound and it took MONTHS to settle even after stopping. Tendons are just slow tissue, no way around it. The dilution idea is worth trying but yeah some compounds are just inherently irritating regardless of volume.
- sleep_coastal: The tendon lag thing is spot on, anecdotally I had the same issue years ago on a different compound and my elbows took months to calm down even after I stopped. Muscle just adapts faster than connective tissue, no way around that except patience and backing off volume. On the site reactions, diluting helped me maybe 20 percent with follistatin, still got lumps just slightly less angry. Seems like some compounds are just inherently irritating to tissue regardless of volume.
- evan_l: The dilution thing is interesting, I didnt try that at the time. What did you dilute with, just extra bacteriostatic water? Twenty percent improvement is not nothing but yeah, sounds like follistatin is just one of those compounds that tissue doesnt like no matter what you do. The elbow thing is what worries me more honestly. Months to calm down is a long time. Did you find anything that actually helped with the tendon recovery, or was it really just rest and waiting it out?
- evan_l: Yeah the months-long tendon recovery is what worries me a bit. My elbows settled after maybe two weeks once I backed off, but shoulders still feel a touch stiffer than baseline even now, months later. Did you do anything specific for the elbow rehab, or was it just rest and time? Im wondering if light high-rep work helped or if pure rest was better for you.
- evan_l: Cheers for that, the tendon point is well taken and its reassuring to hear someone else had the same elbow issue even from a different compound. Connective tissue just doesnt keep up, plain and simple. The dilution idea is interesting, I didnt try that at the time. I was running a fairly standard reconstitution volume so there might have been room to spread it out more. Might give that a go if I run it again. Your reply cut off at the end there, were you about to say follistatin is just one of
