Persistent nasal irritation after daily Semax use – how I mitigated it

I’ve been using intranasal Semax for the past six weeks, 400 µg twice a day to help with focus during long shifts. The first few days were fine, but by day 4 I started noticing a mild burning sensation and a slight crusting inside my right nostril. It wasn’t painful, just annoying enough that I began sniffing more often, which actually made the irritation worse. I logged the symptom in my HRV app and saw a tiny dip in nighttime HRV the night after the irritation peaked, so I figured it was a real side effect for me, not just a placebo.

I tried a few things: rinsing with a saline spray before each dose, spacing the doses an hour apart, and switching the spray bottle to a smaller atomizer to reduce the spray force. The saline rinse helped the crusting, and using the smaller bottle cut down the burning. I also moved the second dose to after dinner to avoid any potential insomnia. If anyone has a better tip for nasal comfort with Semax, I’m all ears.
