5-MeO-DMT heart rate and BP spike, anyone tracked theirs during?

Ran 5-meo-dmt a couple weekends back, first time in a supervised setting. Had my chest strap on and cuff ready because i'd read about the cardiovascular jump. Ngl the numbers were more dramatic than i expected.

My resting HR sits around 52-55 normally. Within about 90 seconds of onset i hit 128 bpm. Stayed above 110 for maybe 8-10 minutes then dropped fairly quick. BP went from my usual 118/72 to 156/94 at peak. Came back to baseline within 25 minutes or so.

The experience itself was intense but manageable. What surprised me was how physical it felt before the perceptual stuff even kicked in. Like my body knew something was happening before my head did.

I'm keen to hear from anyone else who's tracked HR or BP with this one? Or with regular DMT? The /peptides/5-meo-dmt page flags raised heart rate and BP as side effects but i haven't found much real-world data on how high people actually go. Wondering if my spike was typical or on the high end.

Also curious whether anyone with borderline hypertension has run this and what that looked like for them. Seems like the kind of thing where knowing your baseline beforehand matters heaps.

  • curious_scientist: Those numbers are pretty consistent with what I'd expect from a sympathomimetic surge. The 128 bpm peak is notable but not crazy for something that hits that fast. IMO the BP jump to 156/94 is the part I'd watch more than the HR, especially for anyone with borderline hypertension. I haven't run 5-MeO myself but I've tracked HR during a regular DMT experience and saw a similar pattern, shot up to around 120 within the first minute then settled over maybe 5-6 minutes. • greg_codes: Yeah the BP was the part that stuck with me too. HR spike felt scary in the moment but 156/94 is the number i went back and stared at afterwards. My baseline BP is pretty solid so i wasn't too worried but anyone already sitting at 130s systolic would be in a different zone entirely. Keen to hear more about your regular DMT numbers actually. Did you track BP during that one too or just HR? The body-first thing is wild aye, like your nervous system just gets the memo before your brain does.
