Oxandrolone and HDL crash, how bad is the lipid hit at low doses?

Looking into a short oxandrolone run for recovery and recomposition after a rough shoulder rehab stretch. The thing that keeps bugging me is the lipid disruption. I keep reading that HDL drops pretty significantly even at therapeutic doses around 10-20mg. Anecdotally I've seen people say their HDL tanked into the 20s on as little as 15mg a day for a few weeks, which is kinda alarming.

  • labrat_vik: I ran oxandrolone at 10 mg a day for six weeks while rehabbing a torn rotator cuff. For me the HDL fell from the low 50s into the high 30s by week four, which matched what I’d seen in a few guys’ logs. LDL crept up a bit but triglycerides stayed flat. After I stopped and did a simple SERM taper the HDL crept back to the mid‑40s within three weeks, though it never quite hit the pre‑cycle level. Just my own experience, could be placebo or diet changes, but it lines up with the reputation that eve
  • tracker_jade: That drop to the high 30s is actually a bit more reassuring than the 20s I was reading about. Anecdotally, my baseline is usually higher, so I can probably afford a dip, but the fact that yours didn't fully bounce back to the 50s is a concern. Did you do any specific cardio or add fish oil during that six week run to try and keep the HDL from tanking as much?
  • student748: Yeah that lines up with what i’ve read too. I haven’t run oxandrolone myself but a mate doing low dose for tendon rehab saw his hdl dip from 48 to 34 in five weeks. Took a few weeks post pct to creep back up. Worth checking lipids weekly.
  • tracker_jade: Hearing HDL fall from 48 to 34 in five weeks lines up with the scary stories I’ve seen. Did your mate keep any other labs in check, like triglycerides or liver enzymes, during that stretch?
