Urolithin A for mitophagy, anyone notice real endurance changes or is it subtle

Been looking into urolithin A lately, the mitophagy angle is interesting to me since mito quality seems like one of those things that just quietly declines and you dont really notice until youre gassed halfway through something you used to handle fine. The idea is it helps clear out damaged mitochondria and replace them with better functioning ones, which sounds great on paper but im wondering if anyone here has actually felt a difference.

For what it is worth i tried 500mg daily for about 6 weeks and honestly couldnt tell much. Maybe slightly less heavy-legged on back to back long days but that could just be training adaptations or sleep being better that fortnight. Hard to pin down. The studies seem to focus on muscle endurance in older or sedentary populations which makes me wonder if the effect is more visible when your baseline is lower.

Keen to hear from anyone whos run it longer or at the higher end of the range, like 1000mg. Did you notice anything with recovery or sustained energy or is this one of those supplements that just quietly does its thing in the background and you never really feel it. Also curious if anyone has paired it with anything else for the mito angle, like NR or something.

  • labrat_vik: I gave urolithin A a shot at 500mg a day for roughly eight weeks, mostly because the mito story made sense on paper. I didn’t feel a big jump in my lifts or cardio, but I did notice that after a couple of back‑to‑back long shifts at the pharmacy my legs weren’t as drained as they used to be, though that could just be better sleep or a tweak in my routine. I’ve seen a few folks stack it with nicotinamide riboside hoping for a synergistic boost, but I haven’t tried that combo myself. Honestly it
  • student748: Chur for sharing that, sounds pretty similar to what i noticed. The back to back long days thing is exactly where i thought i felt something too but yeah impossible to rule out other variables. The NR stack is interesting, havent gone down that road yet. For what it is worth did you notice any sleep changes at all on the urolithin A itself?
  • fasted_scientist: Ngl I reckon it is probably one of those things where you only notice it when you stop taking it. I had a similar experience where the lack of fatigue felt subtle, like you just weren't hitting that wall quite as hard. Did you happen to change anything else with your diet or caffeine intake during those eight weeks?
  • student748: Yeah thats a fair point about noticing it when you stop, i havent actually come off it yet so maybe thats the test. And nah nothing else changed diet-wise, caffeine was the same, training load was pretty consistent too. It was 6 weeks not 8 btw but same idea. Might just ride it out another month then drop it and see if i notice anything going backwards. For what it is worth the subtle-not-hitting-the-wall thing you described is basically what i was wondering about, hard to tell if its real or j
