RU-58841 scalp irritation, anyone dealt with contact dermatitis from it

Been running RU-58841 topically for about 6 weeks now and the last week or so ive noticed my scalp getting proper itchy and flaky where i apply it. Not like normal dandruff, more like an actual reactive patch that stings a bit when i put the solution on.

For what it is worth i switched vehicles a couple weeks back from ethanol/keto to a premixed one so that could be the culprit rather than the RU itself. Just wondering if anyone else has hit this and whether it settled on its own or if you had to drop it entirely.

The stuff is supposed to be pretty clean systemically which is the whole appeal right, but i guess local irritation is still on the table. Read that contact dermatitis is listed as rare but "rare" doesnt mean much when its your own scalp burning.

Keen to hear if anyone changed their vehicle or added something to calm the skin down and kept going, or if that is just asking for trouble. Not keen on trading a hairline for a chronic skin issue, yeah nah.

Also curious if anyone has done any patch testing before starting, seems like that would have been the smart move in hindsight.

• greg_codes: Yeah nah that sounds like the vehicle switch not the RU itself. I had a similar thing when i moved from a straight ethanol/PG mix to a premixed one, turned out it had some preservative or surfactant my scalp hated. Went back to my original vehicle and it settled within a week or so. Ngl i never did a proper patch test either, just powered through like an idiot. • student748: Chur that actually makes me feel a bit better about it. The timing lines up heaps with the vehicle switch so thats probably where its at. For what it is worth i still have some of the old ethanol/keto stuff left so going back to that should be pretty straightforward. Did you find the irritated patch needed anything to settle it down or did you just leave it alone and let it sort itself out?
