First time mixing BPC-157 – how much water for a 5mg dose?

Hey folks, just got my first vial of BPC-157 (2mg powder) and I’m trying to figure out the reconstitution bit. The label says add bacteriostatic water to make a 1mg/ml solution, but I’m not sure how much water that actually is for a 5mg dose. Do I just add 5ml of water to get 5mg total, or do I need to calculate based on the concentration?
I’ve read a few protocols online but they all seem to assume you already know the maths, and I’m feeling a bit lost. Ngl, I’m a bit nervous about getting it wrong and either under‑dosing or wasting the peptide. Could someone walk me through the steps in plain English?
Also, if I end up with more solution than I need, is it okay to store the rest in the fridge for later use? Any tips would be really appreciated.

- labrat_vik: First thing, your vial has 2mg of powder in it, so you can't get a 5mg dose out of it, just wanna make sure that's clear before you go further. If the label says 1mg/ml and you've got 2mg of powder, you add 2ml of bacteriostatic water and you get 2ml total at 1mg per ml. So 0.1ml on the syringe would be 100mcg, 0.25ml would be 250mcg, that kinda thing. And yeah, once it's mixed, keep it in the fridge and it'll last a good while, couple weeks at least, maybe longer. Just keep it cold and don't s
- greg_codes: Yeah vik's got it right. The 5mg thing in the title is probably just confusion, your vial is 2mg. 2ml bac water gives you 1mg/ml, sweet as. 5mg/ml, makes the syringe marks easier to read if you're pulling small amounts? Just personal preference, i find smaller per-mark doses less fiddly.
- student748: For what it is worth vik's maths is spot on, that 2ml addition gives you nice easy numbers to work with. Just double check the vial label again cos the original post mentions both 5mg and 2mg which is a bit confusing, want to make sure you're not reading two different products mixed up. Sweet as once you've got the concentration sorted the rest is pretty straightforward.
- fasted_scientist: Cheers for flagging that, you're right to call it out. The vial is 2mg powder, I muddled it up in the title and the body. 25ml on the syringe. That lines up with what vik said. Reckon that's easy enough to track. One thing though, does it matter if I push the water in too fast or is a slow trickle better for not denaturing it?
- fasted_scientist: Cheers for that, yeah the title was a bit of a mess on my part, the vial is definitely 2mg. Spot on about the 2ml giving 1mg/ml. When you say 5mg/ml being less fiddly, you mean adding less water so each tick on the syringe is a bigger dose? 1ml always feels a bit guesswork to me.
- fasted_scientist: Cheers for that, you're spot on, I genuinely mixed up the vial size with the dose in my head when I wrote it. So 2ml bac water into the 2mg vial gives me 1mg/ml, that's straightforward enough. 25ml) per shot, how many doses am I realistically getting out of one vial before it's gone? Just trying to plan how many vials I'll go through.
